A delicious and healthy baked pasta dish combining tuna, passata, and cheese, perfect for a comforting yet slimming-friendly meal.

Ingredients

Dried Pasta

  • 14 oz dried pasta (such as penne)

Vegetable Stock Cube

  • 1 cube vegetable stock cube

Salt

  • 0.5 tsp salt

Passata

  • 2 cups passata (or passata rustica)

Cream Cheese

  • 2 tbsp reduced fat cream cheese

Chopped Tomatoes

  • 14 oz chopped tomatoes (or cherry tomatoes)

Tuna in Brine

  • 11 oz tuna in brine (drained)

Canned Corn

  • 7 oz canned corn (drained)

Sweetener

  • 2 tsp optional sweetener

Salt

  • 1 tsp salt

Red Pepper Flakes

  • 0.5 tsp red pepper flakes

Grated Cheddar Cheese

  • 1 cup reduced fat grated cheddar cheese

Shredded Mozzarella Cheese

  • 1 cup reduced fat shredded mozzarella cheese

Pasta Water

  • 0.33 cup pasta water

Fresh Basil

  • 4 tbsp chopped fresh basil (plus extra to garnish)

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Cook pasta in boiling water with stock cube and salt for 2 minutes less than package time. Drain, reserving 80ml pasta water.
  • Mix cream cheese with half of passata until smooth. Add to pasta with remaining passata, tomatoes, tuna, corn, basil, salt, sweetener, and red pepper flakes. Stir well.
  • Transfer mixture to an ovenproof dish, drizzle with reserved pasta water, sprinkle with cheese, and bake for 20-30 minutes until cheese melts. Garnish with basil and serve.

Notes

Use reduced-fat cheese for a healthier option. Adjust seasoning to taste.
