Delicious open-faced sandwiches featuring tender beef, caramelized onions, and fresh toppings for a flavorful meal.

Ingredients

Dairy and condiments

  • 125 ml crème sure
  • 15 ml moutarde à l’ancienne
  • 15 ml aneth ciselé
  • 5 ml raifort préparé (facultatif)

Meat

  • 450 g biftecks de haut de surlonge (2 cm thick)

Oils and vegetables

  • 30 ml huile d’olive
  • 2 pieces petits oignons rouges, émincés
  • 60 ml eau

Bread

  • 4 slices pain de campagne (2 cm thick, grilled)

Greens and cheese

  • 20 g roquette
  • to taste N/A Copeaux de fromage cheddar fort (shaved)

Instructions 

  • Cook the beef to desired doneness and set aside.
  • Caramelize the onions in a pan with a little oil until golden.
  • Spread crème sure, mustard, dill, and optional horseradish on toasted bread slices.
  • Slice the cooked beef and place on the prepared bread, top with caramelized onions, arugula, and cheese shavings.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a splash of balsamic vinegar to the onions while caramelizing.
