Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 11x8 inch (2 quart) baking dish.
Peel, core, dice apples, then toss with sugar, cinnamon, and cornstarch. Spread over the dish.
Mix dry ingredients; set aside. Whisk wet ingredients; combine with dry. Fold in walnuts.
Pour batter over apples, sprinkle with sugar and cornstarch, scatter butter pieces, then pour hot syrup and water gently over the top.
Bake for 40-45 minutes until bubbling and top springs back. Cool slightly before serving with ice cream and drizzle.
Notes
