A nutritious and flavorful lentil-based toast perfect for breakfast or snack, combining protein-rich moong dal with fresh vegetables and spices.

Ingredients

Moong Dal

  • 3/4 cup Moong Dal (Small Yellow Lentils) (Rinsed and soaked for 3-4 hours)
  • 6 to 8 slices Bread Slices (Whole or white bread)
  • 1/4 cup Chopped Onions
  • 1/4 cup Chopped Carrots
  • 1/4 cup Chopped Bell peppers
  • 2 to 3 tbsp Chopped Coriander or Cilantro
  • 1 whole Green Chilli
  • 1 inch Ginger (Fresh ginger piece)
  • 3/4 tsp Salt (to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds (Jeera)
  • 1/4 tsp Red Chilli Powder (to taste)
  • 1/4 tsp Garam Masala
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder (Haldi)
  • 2 tsp Sesame seeds (Til)
  • For cooking Oil / Ghee / Butter (As needed)

Instructions 

  • Rinse and soak moong dal for 3-4 hours. Blend with ginger, green chili, cumin, and water until smooth.
  • Mix in salt, spices, and chopped vegetables into the dal paste.
  • Spread the lentil mixture on bread slices, sprinkle sesame seeds, and cook on a greased pan until crispy and golden brown on both sides.

Notes

You can serve these toasts with ketchup or a mint-coriander dip for added flavor.
