German Coleslaw Recipe

A tangy and crunchy German-style coleslaw perfect as a side dish or light appetizer.

Ingredients

Vegetables

  • 1.1 pound Green Cabbage
  • 1 Tablespoon Salt (see post for salt qualities)
  • 0.5 cup Lukewarm Water
  • 2 Tablespoon Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 0.25 cup Oil (see post for recommendation)
  • 0.5 Teaspoon Black Pepper Ground
  • 1 Teaspoon Caraway Seeds Whole
  • to taste Chives (fresh chopped)

Instructions 

  • Rinse and shred the cabbage, then place in a bowl.
  • Add salt and lukewarm water, then marinate for 1 hour.
  • Rinse under water, strain, and dry thoroughly.
  • Mix vinegar, oil, black pepper, and caraway seeds into the cabbage.
  • Garnish with chopped chives and serve cold.

Notes

Ensure to rinse the cabbage well to remove excess salt and water.
