Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 1.75 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.75 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 2 large eggs
  • 0.75 cup milk
  • 0.75 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 0.5 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Chocolate Chips

  • 1.5 cups semisweet chocolate chips, divided

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a 12-cup muffin tin with paper liners.
  • Mix dry ingredients: flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Whisk eggs, milk, sour cream, oil, and vanilla; combine with dry ingredients just until blended.
  • Fold in 1.5 cups of chocolate chips; reserve remaining 0.5 cup for topping.
  • Divide batter into muffin cups, top with chocolate chips, and bake for 15 minutes.

Notes

Do not overbake to keep muffins moist and tender.
