Ingredients

Salmon

  • 1.5 pounds salmon fillets
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon cumin
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 each lime (Juice of 1 lime)

Slaw

  • 3 cups shredded cabbage
  • 1 small carrot (shredded)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro
  • 1 each lime (Juice of 1 lime)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • to taste salt and pepper

Sauce

  • 0.5 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce
  • 0.5 lime juice of ½ lime
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder

Tortillas and toppings

  • 8 pieces corn or flour tortillas
  • as needed avocado slices
  • as needed extra cilantro
  • as needed lime wedges
  • optional pickled onions

Instructions 

  • Pat the salmon dry, then season with spices and lime juice. Cook in a skillet for 4 minutes per side, then break into chunks.
  • Prepare the slaw by tossing cabbage, carrot, cilantro, lime juice, olive oil, salt, and pepper until bright and tangy.
  • Mix sour cream, mayonnaise, hot sauce, lime juice, and garlic powder to make the sauce.
  • Warm tortillas, then fill with salmon, slaw, avocado, and sauce. Top with cilantro, pickled onions, and lime wedges.

Notes

For extra flavor, char the tortillas slightly over a flame or in a dry skillet.
