A flavorful and satisfying rice bowl featuring marinated beef, sweet corn, and green onions, perfect for a quick and delicious meal.

Ingredients

For the Beef Marinade

  • 450 g thinly sliced beef sirloin or ribeye
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper (freshly ground)

For the Bowl

  • 3 cups cooked white rice (preferably day-old)
  • 0.5 cup sweet corn kernels
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 0.25 cup chopped green onions

Extra black pepper

  • to taste black pepper

Instructions 

  • Combine soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, sugar, minced garlic, and black pepper in a bowl. Add beef slices and marinate for 15-30 minutes.
  • Cook rice until fluffy; using day-old rice enhances texture.
  • Heat a skillet over medium-high heat, cook beef in batches for 2-3 minutes until browned, then set aside.
  • Spoon rice into bowls, top with butter, arrange beef and corn around the butter, sprinkle with black pepper, and garnish with green onions.
  • Stir everything together before eating to melt the butter and combine flavors. Serve warm.

Notes

Using day-old rice helps prevent clumping and enhances flavor absorption.
