Ingredients

Bananas

  • 3 large ripe bananas, roughly mashed

Butter

  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

Sugars

  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar

Eggs

  • 1 large egg, room temperature

Vanilla

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Sour Cream

  • 0.25 cup sour cream, room temperature

Flour

  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour

Baking Soda

  • 0.75 teaspoon baking soda

Baking Powder

  • 0.5 teaspoon baking powder

Salt

  • Pinch salt

Chocolate Chips

  • 0.75 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Extra Chocolate Chips

  • for topping extra chocolate chips

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • Mix mashed bananas, melted butter, sugars, sour cream, egg, and vanilla until smooth.
  • Combine dry ingredients and add to wet mixture; gently mix. Fold in chocolate chips.
  • Scoop batter into greased muffin cups, sprinkle extra chips on top.
  • Bake at 425°F (220°C) for 5 minutes, then reduce to 375°F (190°C) and bake 15 more minutes.
  • Cool muffins before serving.

Notes

Use ripe bananas for best flavor and sweetness.
