Dough
2packetsfast-rising yeast 8g each
4.5cupsall purpose flour(plus more until non-sticky)
1.5cupswarm milk(see note about temperature)
1/4cupbrown sugar
1eggroom temperature(or warm water if from fridge)
1/2tspsalt
1/4cupmelted butter
Filling
2pcsCosmic Crisp apples(diced)
2tbspbrown sugar
2tbspsalted butter(for apples)
Cinnamon Sugar
3/4cupbrown sugar
1tbspground cinnamon
Icing
1cupsoftened cream cheese
1/4cupsoftened salted butter
1cupicing sugar
Instructions
Mix yeast with 1 cup flour; set aside.
Whisk warm milk, sugar, egg, salt, and melted butter; add to flour and yeast, then incorporate remaining flour to form a pliable dough. Knead for 5 minutes.
Let dough rise in a greased bowl, covered, for 15-30 minutes, then punch down and roll into a large rectangle.
Spread softened butter, sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon, add cooked apples, then roll tightly and cut into 12-14 rolls. Arrange in prepared baking dish and let rise until doubled.
Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25-35 minutes until golden. Prepare icing by blending cream cheese, butter, and icing sugar. Spread over warm rolls and serve.
Notes
Ensure dough is not too sticky for easy rolling. Use fresh apples for best flavor.
